Biographical Information[edit]

Michael Bertram made it to AA in 2009.

Bertram went 4 for 34 with two doubles as a freshman in college in 2003. In 2004, he hit .303/.383/.389. He followed by batting .327/.453/.423 in 2005 and .340/.403/.497 with 39 runs and 37 RBI in 56 games as a senior in 2006.

He was selected in the 39th round of the 2006 amateur draft by the Detroit Tigers and made his pro debut that summer with the GCL Tigers, hitting .250/.270/.341 in 44 games while fielding .899 at third base. He spent 2007 with the West Michigan Whitecaps, hitting .251/.309/.356 in 77 games and was 6-for-13 with a triple and three RBIs for the team in the Midwest League playoffs.

With the Lakeland Tigers the next season, he hit .285/.340/.427 with 8 home runs and 55 RBI, with half of his homers coming in August. He was used as a backup corner infielder. He split 2009 between Lakeland (.281/.327/.469) and the AA Erie Sea Wolves (.285/.353/.585), hitting .282 with 18 homers and 77 RBI in 115 games between the two clubs.
