Biographical Information[edit]
Merkin Valdéz was signed by scout Felix Francisco for the Atlanta Braves in November 1999. He made his pro debut the next summer for the DSL Braves.
On December 17, 2002, Valdez was traded with Damian Moss to the San Francisco Giants for Russ Ortiz.
