Biographical Information[edit]
Mayo Sakagami was a part-time second baseman for the Japanese national team in the 2011 Baseball World Cup, splitting the position with Kenichi Yokoyama. He was 3 for 9 with a walk, double, run and 3 RBI while fielding .909 with two errors. He had big hits in a couple games. Down 1-0 against Taiwan, he singled off Yao-Lin Wang and wound up scoring on a hit by Takato Kobayashi to tie it. Japan wound up with a 3-1 win. Against Greece, he pinch-hit for Yokoyama with a 2-2 tie in the 6th. Facing Pete Sikaras, he singled in Kobayashi with the winner.
