Biographical Information[edit]
Max Ayarza played four seasons in the minors.
Ayarza was signed by Houston Astros scout Felix Francisco and Jose Luis Santos in July 2008. He hit .149/.218/.198 for the 2009 DSL Astros, fielding .818 at SS with 28 errors in 29 games, more errors than hits (15). In 2010, he improved to .260/.311/.320 offensively for the same club and fielded .933 at SS. As a utility infielder for the 2011 GCL Astros, he batted .148/.217/.211. He did not play in 2012, then hit .186/.214/.221 for the independent Gateway Grizzlies in 2013, fielding .939 at SS, his main spot that year.
In the 2013 Bolivarian Games, Ayarza was a utility man for the Panamanian national team, playing 1B, 3B, LF and C; he was 3 for 11 with 3 runs and a RBI and fielded .800 for the Gold Medal winners.
