Biographical Information[edit]

Mauricio Alpízar pitched for the Costa Rican national team in the 1986 Central American Games; when he beat Nicaragua and Benigno Arauz, it marked Costa Rica's first win over Nicaragua in 27 years. Costa Rica won a Silver, their best baseball finish in the Central American Games through 2020. He later was a dentist; Orlando Hernández was one of his patients. Alpízar later managed for Costa Rica.
