Biographical Information[edit]

The son of Tim Wallach, Matthew Wallach made his minor league debut in 2007. His brothers Brett Wallach and Chad Wallach have also played professionally.

Wallach hit .346 as a high school junior and .356 as a senior; his coach was former major leaguer Mark Langston. He hit .301 in two years at junior college and was taken in the 23rd round of the 2005 amateur draft by the New York Yankees. He decided to transfer to his dad's alma mater, Cal State Fullerton, instead. As a senior, he hit .255/.384/.418. He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 22nd round of the 2007 amateur draft and made his pro debut that summer with the Ogden Raptors, hitting .297/.393/.465 with 3 homers in 32 games.
