Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Matt Tracy' was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 43rd round of the 2010 Amateur Draft, but decided to remain at the University of Mississippi for another year. The New York Yankees drafted him in the 24th round of the 2011 Amateur Draft and he gradually climbed their minor league ladder. Tracy made his major league debut on April 11, 2015, his only major league appearance. Tracy's lone strikeout victim in the game was Pablo Sandoval of the Boston Red Sox. After his debut Tracy returned to the minors and finished his career in 2018 with the Toronto Blue Jays organization.

Tracy continued with the Blue Jays after he retired. He was a batting practice pitcher for the major league team on an experimental basis in 2019. The Jays were trying to figure out if their hitters would be better served by traditional batting practice methods or if actual pitchers throwing batting practice with velocity and movement akin to regular game conditions would provide better preparation. The Blue Jays hired Tracy in a full-time capacity in 2020 before COVID-19 wiped out the minor league season. He was scheduled for a dual role - assistant pitching coach for the GCL Blue Jays and Pitching Analysis Coordinator. The next two years Tracy worked as the organization's Pitching Development Coordinator.

In 2023, he was named bullpen coach of the Cincinnati Reds.
