Biographical Information

Matt Smith was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 4th round of the 2000 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Mark Batchko and made his pro debut that summer.

Smith began his big league career with 19 scoreless innings, just six short of George McQuillan's record at the time.
