Biographical Information[edit]

Matt Sinatro was a career back-up catcher who played 10 seasons in the majors, but never appeared in more than 37 games in any of these. His busiest year was 1982, when he was with the Atlanta Braves, going 11 for 81 (.136) in 37 games with his only major league home run. In 1990, he hit .300 (15 for 50) in 30 games for the Seattle Mariners. In five separate seasons, he appeared in 10 games or fewer, and he also appeared in games with the Oakland Athletics and Detroit Tigers. Overall he hit .190 in 140 games and slugged .240.

After his playing career ended, Sinatro was a Seattle Mariners scout for two years before serving on the team's coaching staff from 1995 to 2002. He was a Tampa Bay Devil Rays coach from 2003 to 2005 and joined the Chicago Cubs staff in 2007, rejoining manager Lou Piniella for whom he had worked with Seattle.
