Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Matt Goodson was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 23rd round of the 2004 amateur draft and made his pro debut that summer with the Lowell Spinners, going 1-2 with a 5.10 ERA. He began the next year with the Greenville Bombers, going 6-4 with a 2.76 ERA in 17 games before being promoted in July to the Wilmington Blue Rocks, for whom he was 1-1 with a 4.38 ERA in 9 outings. He spent the majority of the next year back with the Blue Rocks, going 3-7 with a 3.92 ERA in 19 starts there, and also made two appearances for the AA Portland Sea Dogs.

Goodson began 2007 with the Sea Dogs and went 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA in 5 starts before being sent to the Lancaster JetHawks in May. After going 0-3 in his first 5 starts with the JetHawks, he went 4-2 the rest of the way, posting a 6.88 ERA overall before being sidelined in July with a season-ending elbow injury. He last played professionally in 2008.
