Biographical Information[edit]

The son of Rich Gedman, infielder Matt Gedman attended the University of Massachusetts, where he hit .402 as a senior. He also played on the school's hockey team as a goaltender. He was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 45th round of the 2011 amateur draft and made his pro debut that summer with the GCL Red Sox. Overall, he played four years of minor league ball in the Red Sox chain.

Gedman became an assistant coach at Trinity College in 2016. He is also goaltender coach for the school's hockey team as of 2022.

In addition to his father, a brother, Mike Gedman, played in the independent leagues.
