Biographical Information

Matt Fox was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the supplemental 1st round of the 2004 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Brad Weitzel and made his pro debut that summer.

Fox made his major league debut with an emergency start for the Minnesota Twins on September 3, 2010 facing the Texas Rangers. The previous night, the Twins had lost a 13-inning game to the Detroit Tigers in which starter Scott Baker left after only two innings and the next day's scheduled starter, Brian Duensing, had to be used. The Twins placed an emergency middle-of-the-night call to their AAA farm team, the Rochester Red Wings to send a starting pitcher to Minneapolis immediately. After getting four hours of sleep, Fox was on his way to facing the best team in the AL West. He did a good job, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits in 5 2/3 innings, as the Twins won, 4 - 3. He was then placed on waivers on September 9th and was picked up by the Boston Red Sox. He pitched three times in relief for the Sox, but never returned to the big leagues after that.
