Matt Fincher

Matt Fincher has coached college baseball for over a decade.
Fincher was a catcher in college. He began his coachng career in 1985 as a graduate assistant at Eastern Illinos University. From 1986-1990, Matt was an assistant at Georgia College. He was on the grounds crew at Atlanta Fulton-County Stadium in 1991-1992. He was an assistant coach at the University of Georgia from 1994-1996, getting his doctorate in physical education while there. In 1994, he also took a team to the American Legion state title in Georgia.
Fincher was interm coach at Andrew College in 1997. From 1997-2006, he was an assistant coach of the Chatham A's, working with dozens of future major leaguers including Jason Bay, Evan Longoria, Brian Roberts and Brad Ziegler.
In 1998, he became head coach of University of South Carolina Upstate. His team went 28-26 in 2003, its first winning season since 1991. He topped 30 wins each season from 2005-2007. He won over 500 games in 22 years before stepping down.
