The Seibu Lions drafted Misawa in the second round of the 2009 NPB draft. He spent the first four seasons of his career in the NPB Farm Leagues, and represented Japan in the 2010 Intercontinental Cup. Backing up Tetsuya Kokubo at second, he drew a walk from Gerald Rojas of Nicaragua his first trip to the plate but was 0 for 6 the rest of the Cup; he had two runs and handled 10 chances error-free. The Kagoshima native debuted in 2013, but he only had 12 at-bats combined in the next two years, and announced his retirement after the 2014 season.
