Biographical Information

Masao Date was a catcher for Waseda University and hit .469 during his career there. By his junior year, he was also pitching and famously notched three consecutive wins against Keio University. In 1931 and 1934, he represented Japan during the United States All-Star Tours of Japan.

Date was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.
