Biographical Information[edit]

Masahiro Inui pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.

Inui represented Japan in the 2008 Haarlemse Honkbalweek, 2008 World University Championship (pitching five hitless innings in three games, one against Lithuania and two versus the USA; Canada's Dustin Northcutt was the only other hurler to work three games without giving up a hit), 2009 Asian Championship and 2010 World University Championship. The Nippon Ham Fighters drafted him in the third round of the 2010 NPB draft. Inui spent most of his rookie year in the NPB Farm Leagues, only pitched 8 games with the big club. He had 36 appearances in 2012, but his ERA was a terrible 5.51. He still struggled in 2013 as his ERA worsened to 6.04. He only had 7 more appearances in the next two years. The Fighters traded him to the Yomiuri Giants for Susumu Ohrui in 2016. Inui only pitched 7 games for the Giants in the next two years, and he was released after the 2017 season. Inui joined the Toyama GRN Thunderbirds of the Baseball Challenge League, and announced his retirement after the 2022 season. He was a assistant coach for the Toyo University since 2023.

Overall, Inui was 1-2 with a 5.65 ERA and pitched 86 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
