Biographical Information[edit]
Marty Kavanagh was the regular second baseman for the Detroit Tigers in 1914 but was unable to stick at the position after that and became a pinch hitter, part-time first baseman, and utility player. In 1915 he slugged .452, good for third in the league, but in 1916 he struggled with the bat.
Marty drew attention after hitting .357 for the York White Roses in 1913.
In a strange coincidence, there have been three players in major league history named "Kavanagh", and all three made their major league debuts in 1914.
