Biographical Information

Marty Cordova was the 1995 American League Rookie of the Year while playing for the Minnesota Twins. He hit .277/.352/.486 in 137 games, with 24 homers and 84 RBI. In 1996, he did even better, driving in 111 runs with 46 doubles and a .309/.371.478 line Sadly, Marty failed to maintain that level of production over the rest of his career, battling injuries the remainder of his career. In fact, he once missed time after falling asleep in a tanning bed and getting burns all over his body.

Cordova had a couple of other good seasons and moments along a nine year career. He hitting .285/.365/.464 with 14 homers and 70 RBI for the Twins in 1999. After joining the Toronto Blue Jays late in spring training 2000, he rewarded them with an 18 RBI July. He hit a grand slam on July 16th against the New York Mets, with was the team's 8th grand slam, tying the team record for grand slams in a season. In Cleveland in 2001, Marty batted .301/.348/.506 with 20 homers and 69 RBI. He fell to .253/.325/.434 with a 105 OPS+ as a regular with the Baltimore Orioles in 2002, then was released early in 2003 after a nine game, .233/.410/.467 look (109 OPS+).

Cordova is good friends with UFC President Dana White, often appearing on his video blogs. He had a cameo in a sketch on Saturday Night Live on December 13, 1997.
