Biographical Information[edit]
Martin "Duck" Duke pitched four games for the Washington Statesmen in 1891. He was three years younger than catcher Deacon McGuire. However, his first major league appearance had been as an umpire in the American Association at the end of the 1890 season.
His minor league career went from 1888-1895. In 1890, he led the Western Association with 308 strikeouts and a 0.81 ERA.
