Mark Rucker
Mark Rucker (b. 1949) is a photographic historian whose specialty has been to provide photographic illustrations for a large number of baseball books published over the years. He has constituted his own archive of rare and historical sports photographs, the "Rucker Archive", which is among the most comprehensive ever assembled. He served as a visual consultant for Ken Burns' documentary Baseball and also contributed with Peter C. Bjarkman on a number of his books on Cuban baseball history. He has also worked with David Nemec and Lawrence Ritter on some of their seminal historical books.
In 2023, Rucker decided to make his archive, containing some 80,000 pictures, available to the public through the SABR website.
He was honored by SABR with the Bob Davids Award in 2010 and the Henry Chadwick Award in 2023.
