Biographical Information

Mark Owings played in the Philadelphia Phillies system in 1979 and 1980 after being taken in the 23rd round of the 1979 amateur draft, the same round as outfielder Brett Butler.

He hit .244/.269/.455 with 10 doubles, six triples and five home runs in 47 games for the Central Oregon Phillies in 1979 and in 1980, he hit .218/.298/.244 in 50 games for the Spartanburg Phillies. He hit .230/.284/.344 in 97 games overall.
