Biographical Information

Mark Hamilton was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2nd round of the 2006 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Scott Nichols and began his pro career that summer. He reached the majors at the end of the 2010 season, hitting .,143 in 9 games as a first baseman. He was back briefly in 2011 for another 38 games, during which he hit .213. That was it for his major league career, while his minor league career lasted from 2006 to 2014. His best year was 2010 when he hit .298 with 20 homers in 81 games between the AAA Memphis Redbirds and the GCL Cardinals for a rehabilitation assignment.

Following his playing career, he went back to school to study medicine at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, in the New York, NY metropolitan area. He received his diploma in April 2020 in an on-line ceremony, given that New York was one of the epicenters of the coronavirus pandemic at the time. He was scheduled to start working in June with a residency in internal medicine at a hospital in Queens, NY, where he would be treating victims of the pandemic.
