Biographical Information[edit]

Mark Fields was an outfielder taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the 21st round of the 1990 amateur draft (one pick after Marc Valdes) out of high school. The Seattle Mariners chose him in the 51st round of the 1991 amateur draft out of junior college. He never played in the minors, focusing on football. He spent nine years as a linebacker in the NFL, making the Pro Bowl in 2000 and 2004. He had 585 tackles, 34 1/2 sacks and 5 interceptions in the NFL.
