Mark Du Plessis
- Throws Right
Biographical Information[edit]
Mark Du Plessis was a pitcher for the South African national team in the 1998 Baseball World Cup. In his lone outing, he relieved Colin Sampson with one out in the 2nd of a 5-4 loss against Panama. He fared much better than Sampson, allowing two runs in 6 2/3 IP to close it out (7 H, 0 BB, 1 K), with an Earl Agnoly homer being the big problem. He later coached in South Africa.
A jockey named Mark Du Plessis was born in Africa on 10/3/1975, which makes one wonder if this one has the wrong birthdate attributed - it would seem odd that two athletes named Mark Du Plessis were born the same day, but it is certainly feasible and this researcher could find no evidence linking the jockey and the pitcher.
