Biographical Information[edit]
Mark Butler pitched in the minor leagues from 1981 to 1983. He was originally drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 7th round of the 1981 amateur draft, a couple picks after pitcher John Davis. He was 2-4 with a 3.89 ERA in 13 starts for the Bluefield Orioles in 1981, then 7-11, 4.17 in 25 games (18 starts) for the Macon Peaches of the Detroit Tigers system in 1982. He returned to the Baltimore Orioles system and was 5-4 with a 3.31 ERA in 41 relief appearances between three teams.
Overall, Butler went 14-19 with a 3.88 ERA in 79 games (31 starts) over three seasons. In 273 2/3 innings, he allowed 310 hits and 82 walks (1.432 WHIP), while striking out 109 batters.
