Biographical Information[edit]
John Davis was a very tall relief pitcher who played for 3 teams over 4 years in the major leagues.
Davis was signed as a 7th round pick in the 1981 amateur draft by the Kansas City Royals and scout Carl Blando. He was called up by the 1987 Royals in July and finished with a low ERA of 2.27 in 43 2/3 innings pitched. He had a 5-2 record with 2 saves. He was traded to the Chicago White Sox in December of 1987 as part of the deal that sent Floyd Bannister to KC and had a disappointing year for the White Sox, going 2-5 with a 6.64 ERA. After the 1988 season, he had another short stint with the White Sox in 1989 and with the San Diego Padres in 1990.
