Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Mark Brownson played parts of three seasons in the majors with the Colorado Rockies and Philadelphia Phillies.
Selected by the Rockies in the 30th round of the 1993 amateur draft, Brownson reached the majors with the club in 1998. In his debut against the Houston Astros on July 21st, he had a no-hitter through five innings. He finished with a four-hit shutout, striking out 7 en route to a 5-0 win. After one more start for Colorado that summer, he returned to the minors. He made 7 starts for the Rockies in 1999, going 0-2 with a 7.89 ERA. Grabbed by the Phillies off waivers following the year, Brownson made 2 major league appearances for the club in 2000. He was released at season's end and later played in the Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, and Boston Red Sox chains. He ended his career with two years in the independent Atlantic League.
Brownson died in February 2017 at the age of 41.
