Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Mark Blackmar was drafted twice. First, he was taken by the Kansas City Royals in the 2010 amateur draft, then he was taken by the Baltimore Orioles in the 16th round of the 2011 amateur draft. The scout was Thom Dreier.

He began his professional career going 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 10 relief appearances for the GCL Orioles in 2011. Three years later, in 2014, he was 10-1 with a 3.18 ERA in 26 games (18 starts) for the Frederick Keys. On August 31, 2014, he was traded with minor league pitcher Miguel Chalas to the Chicago White Sox for outfielder Alejandro de Aza. After a year in the White Sox system, he joined the independent ranks to begin 2016, before signing with the Washington Nationals.
