Biographical Information[edit]

Marek Krejčiřík has played for the Czech national team.

In the 2016 U-15 Baseball World Cup, he hit .389/.656/.611 with seven RBI in eight games, drawing 14 walks and fielding .918 as the Czech starting shortstop. He led the event in walks (four ahead of Shota Katekaru) and led the Czechs in RBI and OPS. He tied for third in the Cup in assists (27) and tied for fourth in errors (4). [1] He made his Extraliga debut in 2017, going 7 for 32 with two triples and five walks for the Třebíč Nuclears. [2] The next year, he fell to .146/.327/.171. [3] In the 2018 European U-18 Championship, he hit .353/.500/.512 with four runs in five games, fielding .857 and tying for the most miscues (4). [4]

During 2019, he rebounded to .375/.511/.458, finishing tenth in average and third in OBP (behind Dondrei Hubbard and Terrell Joyce). [5] In '20, he hit only .203/.350/.422 and pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings. He stole six bases in six tries. [6] The next year, he had a 3.75 ERA and did not bat. [7] In '22, he moved to Hrosi Brno, producing at a .224/.438/.362 clip with 22 walks and 17 runs in 19 games in the regular season and .270/.415/.284 with 19 walks in 25 postseason games. He led overall in walks, three ahead of former minor leaguer Martin Červenka. [8]

For the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he backed up Matěj Menšík in left field. In his lone plate appearance, he struck out against France's Quentin Moulin. The Czechs won to advance to the 2023 World Baseball Classic, their first trip to the World Baseball Classic. [9]
