Biographical Information[edit]

Marek Blajer played in the Extraliga and for the Czech national team.

He debuted in 2002, hitting .250/.304/.328 in the regular season for the Eagles Praha and going 2-for-11 in the postseason. In '03, he hit .435/.536/.522 in 28 plate appearances and .433/.500/.733 in the postseason with 9 RBI in 7 games. In '04, he hit .305/.322/.441 with 5 triples in 27 games, leading in three-baggers (one ahead of Pavel Budský and Petr Baroch). He batted .339/.397/.400 in 2005 (.250/.333/.313 in the playoffs) and his 39 regular-season hits were 10th in the circuit.

Playing for the Czechs in the 2005 European Championship, he was 0 for 6 and made errors in both fielding chances in the outfield for a rough tourney. He rebounded in 2006 with a .274/.333/.349 batting line in 2006 and .391/.375/.478 with 7 RBI in 5 postseason contests. He drove in 20 runs in 27 games in the regular season, tying David Winkler for 7th. He also tied for 5th in postseason RBI. He played for the Czechs in the 2006 World University Championship.

Blajer fell to .226/.252/.274 in 2007 (0-for-8 in the postseason), then was back up in 2008 and hit .284/.310/.358. He tied for 5th with 8 doubles. In 2009, his final season, he hit .280/.365/.307.
