Biographical Information[edit]
Marcos Guimaraes has played and coached for the Brazilian national team.
In the 2002 Intercontinental Cup, he allowed two runs (one earned) in three innings, walking 3. He then moved from the mound and hit .208/.250/.208 as Brazil's starting right fielder in the 2005 Baseball World Cup. In the 2006 COPABE Qualifiers for the 2008 Olympics, he batted .238/.273/.385 and had one assist and no errors while again starting in right. During the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, Marcos produced at a .276/.344/.345 clip while playing CF and LF primarily. He led Brazil in average in that event. He coached for Brazil in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, 2013 World Baseball Classic, 2015 South American Championship (Silver Medal), 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, 2019 Pan American Games Qualifier and 2023 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers.
