Marco Sabbatani has caught in the Italian Baseball League.
Sabbatani was 4 for 15 in the 2007 European Junior Championship as Italy won Gold; he split catching with Mattia Reginato. Marco took part in the 2008 MLB European Academy then was part of a European contingent that visited Team USA's training base in 2009. In 2010, he made his Italian Baseball League debut, hitting a meek .182/.220/.256 for the Godo Knights while fielding .989 at catcher and throwing out 9 of 36 attempted base-stealers. He also saw some action at third base and in the outfield. Sabbatani moved to Fortitudo Bologna for 2011. In the 2011 European Cup, he was 2 for 8 with four walks as the backup to Juan Pablo Angrisano in the Amsterdam phase; Bologna advanced to the Final Four.
