Diminutive lefthander Manuel Nunez pitched in the Mexican League in 2016 and 2017, both years with the Rojos del Aguila de Veracruz.
He made his professional debut in a record-tying game that started on May 17, 2016. pitting Veracruz against the Olmecas de Tabasco. The game was tied at 5-5 in the 7th, and that score held for inning after inning until the 23rd inning, when the marathon game finally came to a conclusion. By then, it was May 18th, and Nunez was on the mound for Veracruz when he gave up a single to Uriak Marquez that scored Adrian Gutierrez with the winning run. In all, the game lasted 7 hours and 34 minutes and tied two other games, one from 1977 and the other from 2001, for the longest in Mexican League history in terms of inning.
Nunez went 1-3, 4.50 in 27 games as a rookie in 2016, and 0-0, 8.71 in 9 games in 2017. Only one of his appearances came as a starter.
