Biographical Information[edit]
Manuel Fernández pitched for the Venezuelan national team in the 1952 Amateur World Series then won Silver with them in the 1953 Amateur World Series and Bronze in the 1955 Pan American Games though his 7.45 ERA was the team's highest mark. Turning pro, he was 0-2 with a 3.10 ERA for the 1955-1956 Leones del Caracas. He had a 2.92 ERA and no decisions in nine games for them the next winter and had a 5.09 ERA in 8 games in 1957-1958. He was 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA in 1958-1959, 0-1 with a 7.94 ERA in 1959-1960 and had a 10.80 ERA in 7 games in 1960-1961 to finish his Venezuelan League career at 1-3, 4.39 in 35 games.
