Manny Cartledge was a pitcher in the dying days of the Negro Leagues. In the 1953 East-West Game, he relieved Willie Gaines in the 4th with the East down, 3-1. Cartledge tossed three hitless, scoreless innings with one walk and one whiff as the best East pitcher; he also had one hit in two trips to the plate. Dave Amaro relieved him and the East would go on to lose, 5-1. He took the loss in the 1955 East-West Game, giving up two runs (one earned) on an error, a hit batsman, and one hit in two innings.
