The big right-hander pitched for the East in the 1953 East-West Game. Relieving Manny Cartledge in the 7th with a 3-1 deficit, he gave up three hits, hit a batter and surrendered two runs (both on an Ernie Johnson single) in two innings as the East lost. At the plate, Amaro was 0 for 1.
