Biographical Information[edit]

Malcom Culver has played in the Kansas City Royals minor league system since 2008 (through 2014). He was taken by the club in the 8th round of the 2008 amateur draft, a couple picks ahead of pitcher Scott Barnes.

He began his professional career as an infielder, but struggled in that capacity. He converted to pitching in 2011 and has had some success - for example, he posted a 2.72 ERA in 40 games between the Wilmington Blue Rocks and Northwest Arkansas Naturals in 2013. He began 2014 with Northwest Arkansas.

His father, Lanell Culver, played in the Cincinnati Reds system from 1981 to 1984.
