Biographical Information

Mahlon Higbee had a great cup of coffee with the 1922 New York Giants who won the 1922 World Series under John McGraw. Higbee, in 10 at-bats, hit .400, slugged .700, and made no errors in the field.

Higbee was only 20 years old at the time, but was not the youngest player on the team. That honor went to Travis Jackson, who was 18 that year.

It was a very tough team to break onto. Every regular except Heinie Groh hit at least .320, with the outfield of Irish Meusel, Ross Youngs, and Casey Stengel hitting .331, .331, and .368 respectively.

Higbee hit his one home run on October 1, 1922, his last major league game.
