Biographical Information[edit]
Luis Marté was signed by scout Ramon Pena for the Detroit Tigers in 2005. He made his pro debut the next summer for the DSL Tigers.
Marté earned his first major league win in dramatic fashion for the Tigers on September 3, 2011 at Comerica Park. The Tigers were trailing the Chicago White Sox, 8-1, in the 5th inning and entered the bottom of the 9th still trailing, 8-6. Ryan Raburn then hit a two-run, game-tying homer and Miguel Cabrera followed with a walk-off blast to give the Tigers a 9-8 win, and Marté, who had pitched a perfect top of the inning, earned the victory in his second career outing.
Marté became a pitching coach with the DSL Tigers 2 in 2018.
