Biographical Information[edit]
First baseman Luis Figueroa played for the Guatemalan national team.
At age 16, he not only played for Guatemala in the 1994 Central American Games [1] but he scored the first run off Epifanio Perez in a 2-1 upset of Nicaragua and finished the event at .563, leading in average, .007 ahead of Alfredo Zamora. [2] Guatemala won the Silver Medal for the first time. He also played for Guatemala in the 1995 Pan American Games, 1997 Central American Games and 2003 Pan American Games.
From 1996-1999, he played college ball in the US; he had played high school baseball in the US but finished in El Salvador; his mother was working for Unicef and moved around.
