Biographical Information

Luis Arrieta has pitched in the minors and been on the Colombian national team.

Arrieta was signed by Pittsburgh Pirates scouts Rene Gayo and Orlando Covo in July 2016. He was 2-1 with a 2.56 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 14 games (4 starts) for the 2017 DSL Pirates. In 2018, he was 1-4 with a 6.75 ERA for the GCL Pirates, walking 29 in 36 innings. Control remained an issue with the 2019 Bristol Pirates (3-1, Sv, 5.73) as he had 20 walks and 10 wild pitches in 22 innings. He tied for 5th in the Appalachian League in wild pitches. That ended his minor league career with a composite 6-6, 4.55 record.

He was with Colombia for the 2022 Bolivarian Games, 71 years after another Luis Arrieta had represented Colombia in the 1951 Bolivarian Games.
