Biographical Information[edit]

Lucas Dunn has played in the minors and for the German national team.

Dunn hit .192/.389/.192 for Germany in the 2014 U-15 Baseball World Cup, with eight walks and six runs in eight games. Starting in center, he fielded .938. He tied for 9th in the Cup in walks. [1] He was able to play for them as his mother was from Germany. [2] He hit .430 and had a 2.82 ERA as a high school senior. [3]

He hit .303/.397/.439 as a college freshman then .309/.399/.398 as a sophomore, stealing 15 bases in 17 tries and scoring 48 runs in 56 games. He had hits in all four of his games in the 2019 College World Series. [4] He batted .286/.434/.286 for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the Cape Cod League. He played for the US collegiate team against the Japanese collegiate All-Stars. [5] He was 3 for 11 with a triple and two walks in a COVID-19-shortened junior season. His batting line was .266/.358/.451 his last year at Louisville. The San Diego Padres took him in the 8th round of the 2021 amateur draft and he signed for a $100,000 bonus.

Making his pro debut, he played that summer for the ACL Padres (8 for 22, 5 BB, 2B, 3B, 8 R) and Lake Elsinore Storm (.236/.333/.394, 25 R in 34 G). In 2022, he played 1B, 2B, 3B, C, LF and DH for Lake Elsinore, hitting .293/.423/.507 with 36 RBI in 42 games. He also played 81 for the Fort Wayne TinCaps but slipped to .215/.335/.319. For the year, he had 68 runs, 26 doubles, 8 triples, 66 RBI, 79 walks, 11 times plunked and 19 steals in 24 tries. He was 9th among Padres farmhands in two-baggers, tied Max Ferguson and Corey Rosier for the most triples, 10th in RBI and tied Jarryd Dale in walks.

Playing for Germany in the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he started at short and hit 9th in the opener against Great Britain. He was retired by Akeel Morris his first time up. His first hit came the next game versus South Africa. Now manning first, he singled off Kieran Lovegrove for his first hit. He was 4-for-12 with a run on the event. Only Billy Germaine had more hits for Germany. [6]
