Lou Paul
Louis Paul
- Bats Right, Throws Right
- Debut September 5, 1876
- Final Game September 8, 1876
Biographical Information[edit]
Lou Paul played catcher for three games for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1876, the first year of the National League. The team used ten players at catcher that season.
There is no solid evidence that his first name was Lou. In game accounts, he was describes as "very young and rather too light in weight". It is possible that he was in fact Harry Horter Paul, who was an amateur player in Philadelphia, PA around that time who did play catcher, although this is mere speculation at this point.
