Pitcher Lore Bader was born (where else?) in Bader, Illinois, a small town near Springfield that was named after his family. He pitched for the Dallas Giants from 1911 to 1913, earning a cup of coffee in the majors with the New York Giants in 1912. He spent the next three years with the Buffalo Bisons, with whom he was 23-8 with a 2.05 ERA in 1916. After appearing in 18 games for the Boston Red Sox in 1917 and 1918, he returned to the minors and went 19-9 with a 2.91 ERA for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1920. Lore's minor league career stretched from 1911-1929, with a stint from 1928 to 1929 managing and logging playing time with the Providence Grays.

After his playing career ended, Bader was a Boston Braves coach in 1926. He later managed several years in the minors.
