Biographical Information

Logan Bawcom is a minor league pitcher.

Amateur Career

Bawcom hit .500 with 12 home runs as a high school senior, winning All-State honors at shortstop. In junior college, he was 5-1 with 7 saves and a 4.02 ERA as a sophomore and hit .325 with 10 home runs. He was All-Conference. Transferring to UT-Arlington, he had a 5-4, 3.87 record in 2010 and hit .231. He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers out of the University of Texas at Arlington in the 17th round of the 2010 amateur draft. The scout was Calvin Jones.

Minors

Beginning his professional career with the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League in 2010, he went 3-1, 4.28 in 16 games as a reliever. He split 2011 between the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League, going a combined 5-3, 3.09 in 52 games, picking up 27 saves in the process, as well as 84 strikeouts in 67 innings. He allowed a .207 average for the year. He led Dodgers farmhands (and both of his teams) in saves.

In 2012, he was back at Rancho Cucamonga to start the season, but was completely dominating opponents after 12 games, as attested by an 0.64 ERA, 7 saves, just four hits allowed and 24 Ks in 14 innings. He was promoted to the AA Chattanooga Lookouts, where he continued to pitch well. In 27 appearances, he saved another 13 games, with a record of 3-3, 2.60, although his strikeout rate fell slightly, to 36 in 34 2/3 innings. On July 30th, he was one of two prospects sent by the Dodgers to the Seattle Mariners, along with Class A OF Leon Landry, in return for P Brandon League. After 3½ years in the Mariners chain, the Dodgers re-acquired Bawcom in the AAA phase of the 2015 Rule V Draft.
