Lisdey Díaz has caught for Ciego de Ávila for over 15 years.

Díaz was a long-time backup to Roger Machado, getting only 1,607 at-bats in his first 13 seasons. After 10 years, he had hit .259/.304/.354, had fielded .985 and had thrown out 70 of 155 attempted base-stealers. In his 11th season, 2005-2006, he was 27 for 90 with four doubles, two home runs and six walks. In 2006-2007, he hit .250/.274/.353. With Machado retiring, Lisdey became a starter in 2007-2008 and hit .272/.375/.368. He allowed only 27 steals in 61 tries.

Díaz produced at a .269/.355/.427 rate in 2008-2009; he fielded .993 and threw out 16 of 35 base-stealers but had 10 passed balls, third in the Cuban Serie Nacional. The veteran fell to .241/.308/.328 in 2009-2010 but threw out 22 of 39 base thieves. He tied for 4th in runners caught stealing while only being tied for 10th in steals against. In 2010-2011, he hit .303/.356/.403 and allowed 20 steals in 35 tries. Ciego de Ávila made their first finals ever. In game six of the finals, with his team down 3 games to 2 and with a 1-0 lead in the contest, Lisdey made a crucial error that scored the tying run; the club wound up falling 6-1 to Pinar del Rio.
