Lindsay Horwitz played baseball on the boys' "B" team as a freshman then missed the cut as a sophomore. She switched to softball as a junior and made All-Conference at second base in that sport. After graduating from high school, she returned to baseball with the US entry in the 2010 Women's Baseball World Cup. Horwitz played a role in the US loss to Venezuela in that tournament. Relieving Anna Kimbrell with a 5-2 lead in the 5th, one out and the bases loaded, she gave up singles to Lelis Gomez and Nidia Pineda then suffered errors by infielders Sarah Gascon and Malaika Underwood; the US trailed 7-5 at that point and went on to drop the decision, 7-6.
