Biographical Information

Lewis Hull began his baseball career with the McAllen Giants of the Rio Grande Valley League in 1949. He hit .284 with 12 triples, 17 home runs and a .467 slugging. He struck out 132 times, the most in the history of the Rio Grande Valley League. He also tied for the league lead in triples and was 6th in home runs. He then served in the Marine Corps for several years during the Korean War. He returned to the diamond in 1954 and had his best pro season that year, hitting 43 home runs in the Longhorn League. He batted .316 and slugged .639. He was second in the league in dingers, 29 behind Joe Bauman's legendary 72. He also finished 6th in slugging. He split the year between the Midland Indians (117 games) and Artesia Numexers (12 games). He drove home 117, nowhere near the top three in the high-flying circuit.

In 1955, Hull moved up to the Durham Bulls and hit .280/?/.423 with 13 home runs. He split 1956 between two Western League clubs (.319, .535 SLG) and two Southern Association clubs (5 for 30 in his only time at AA, his highest level). He tied Lou Klein for 21st in the WL with 17 homers, well back of Dick Stuart's 66. In 1957, he was 1 for 11 for the Davenport DavSox to end his playing career.

After baseball, Hull was a car dealer.
