Biographical Information

Levy Ochoa was a minor league infielder and scout.

Ochoa made his pro debut with the 1972 Key West Conchs, going 4 for 33 with a walk, run and 2 RBI as a backup second baseman. In the winter of 1972-1973, he was 2 for 14 for the Aguilas del Zulia. He was 0 for 5 with a walk and 3 runs for the 1973 GCL White Sox to finish his minor league career with a .111 average. He remained active as a bench player in the Venezuelan League for almost a decade, though. He was 0 for 1 for Zulia in 1973-1974, 1 for 8 in 1974-1975 and 2 for 9 in 1975-1976. In 1976-1977, he went 6 for 18 with 3 doubles. In 1977-1978, he played a career-high 22 games and hit well (.293/?/.439, his only career triple and homer). He fell to 3-for-20 (with two doubles) in '78-'79. He then moved to the Leones del Caracas, going 5 for 37 with 2 doubles in 1979-1980, 0 for 14 in 1980-1981 and 3 for 9 in 1981-1982. He hit .199 in 171 at-bats over 113 career games in Venezuela.

Ochoa then became a scout, with the Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins, Boston Red Sox and agent Scott Boras. He signed minor league pitcher Edgar Martinez, Hanley Ramírez and Juan Pérez among others. He worked in player development for the Atlanta Braves and coached for the Spanish national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers.
