Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Les Filkins was the third overall pick in the 1st round of the 1975 amateur draft, by the Detroit Tigers. He hit .297 in 273 AB for the AAA Evansville Triplets in 1980 and .287 for Evansville in 1981, but never made the majors. In 1983, he moved to Japan's Hiroshima Carp, hitting .268/.288/.423 in 39 games and spending most of the year in ni-gun.

His father, Leslie Filkins, was a catcher in the minor leagues from 1947 to 1953.
